Privacy Policy for Click to Censor
Last updated: June 25, 2026
Click to Censor ("the extension", "we", "us", "our") is developed by Pixa Nova Labs. This policy explains what information the extension handles, why, and your choices. We have tried to keep it in plain language.
In short: everything you censor stays on your own device. The extension has no analytics, no tracking, and no account. The only time any data leaves your device is when you choose to activate a premium license, in which case your license key is sent to our payment provider to confirm the purchase. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
1. Information the extension handles
Things stored only on your device (never uploaded to us)
- Your censors. For each website, the extension saves the elements you chose to censor (as CSS selectors) and the style you picked (blur, blackout, or hide). This is stored locally in your browser so your censors persist across page reloads. It is never uploaded to us.
- Your premium status. If you activate a premium license, the extension stores a flag and your license key locally so it knows the paid features are unlocked.
Things sent off your device only when you use a feature
- Your license key (only if you buy and activate premium). When you enter a license key to unlock premium, the extension sends that key to our payment provider, Polar, to confirm it is valid. The extension also re-checks the key with Polar about once a day so that a refunded or disabled key stops unlocking the paid features. The key is the only thing sent, and only for this validation. If you never buy premium, no license key exists and nothing is ever sent.
What we do NOT collect
- The pages you visit, their content, or the elements you censor. These never leave your device.
- Your name, email, or any account. The extension has no sign-in.
- We do not use third-party advertising.
- We do not use third-party analytics or tracking.
2. How we use the information
The censors you create are used only to apply the blur, blackout, or hide styles you asked for, on your own device. Your license key is used only to verify a premium purchase. That's it. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
3. Service providers we use
- Polar: processes premium purchases and validates license keys. Your license key is sent to Polar only to confirm it is valid. (Polar Privacy Policy)
4. Permissions the extension asks for
- Access to the sites you visit (host permissions): needed so the extension can apply your censors on whatever page you choose to use it on. It only acts on the page when you ask it to.
- Storage: needed to save your censors and premium status locally on your device.
- Active tab: needed to start element-selection mode on the page you are currently viewing when you click the toolbar button.
- Alarms: needed to re-check your premium license about once a day in the background.
5. Data retention
- On your device: your censors and premium status stay until you remove them, clear the extension's data, or uninstall the extension.
- With our payment provider: we do not keep a separate copy of your license key. Polar holds purchase and license records under its own privacy terms.
6. Security
License validation between the extension and our payment provider is encrypted in transit using HTTPS.
7. Children's privacy
Click to Censor is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Your choices
- You can remove any censor at any time from the extension popup, or clear them all.
- You can remove all locally stored data by clearing the extension's data or uninstalling it.
- You can contact us with any privacy question using the details below.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the extension changes. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be reflected in the extension's store listing.
